I ordered the screw gauge and wondered what the cutouts were so I contacted them. Not only did they explain the purpose of the cutouts but also informed me my gauge was defective (tldr explanation). He then said he be sending a new one.

Great product and fast shipment

I restore antique furniture. It's GREAT to have a source of true replacement parts. Thank goodness someone still makes them the old way. And with slots deep enough to really let you get the screws tight. And they have the odd sizes too...not just the even sized like everyone else. A truly great resource.
